Stopping Comment Spam

Spam is all over the web and can creep into nearly anything. In the past it was limited to email. However, if you happen to run a website or blog that permits your visitors to leave a comment you have undoubtedly faced the issue of comment spam.

Many people conclude the spammers are attempting to redirect your sites traffic to their site in order to increase search engine rankings and revenue share earnings with page views. Most search engines that rank a site will count how many other sites have linked to it. Not only do they count the number of sites, but the sites quality is also a factor. When spammers leave their comments on your site they are achieving a slightly higher search engine ranking.

The spammers will try and circumvent any type of spam blocking software in place that protects your site or blog. They will attempt to get around the security manually, but the most common forms of spam are achieved by spam bots or spam scripts. Most site owners don’t work on their websites and blogs as their day job. Therefore, fighting spam bots on a regular basis is something of an exception rather than the rule. There are some things you can do to fight spam comments on your site or blog.

Some rules of thumb
If you discover you are a victim of spam comments you may react on a per case basis instead of reviewing your site or blog for the big picture. These are rules of thumb that may help you achieve an overall battle to stop spam comments.

Don’t take spam personally; everyone sees spam comments from time to time whenever you own a site or blog. Use these rules of thumb to stop spam comments.

1)    Don’t ban a specific IP address
Don’t bother. It’s not worth the time or effort. Although this may seem like a logical move to make, it doesn’t really combat the problem. Most comment spammers are bouncing requests and spam off of other servers and computers making it difficult to pin point one IP address.

2)    Don’t permit HTML
There is rarely a reason to permit HTML or JavaScript. This is usually obvious, but rarely there are sites that use HTML or JavaScript.

If you allow users to include links, such as back links to commenter’s sites, there are a number of ways to code to allow them to use links. You can permit the function without being vulnerable to attack.

3)    Use non descriptive form names
Good programming will require the use of non-descriptive form names, but in avoiding spam stay away from names describing a form’s field. Form element names like “comment” make it too easy for a spammer to access your system and spread spam comments.

Stop Spamming at the source

1)    Differentiate between spammers and regular users
Differentiate between spammers and a regular user involves requiring your human posters to identify them. Many site or blog owners will use CAPTCHA as part of leaving a comment process. This is the most widely used form of separating spammers from actual users leaving comments.

If you are using a web designer make certain they understand what you require in your fight against stop spam comments so they can code accordingly. If you use a free service, such as WordPress or Blogger, these platforms have several options you can elect when setting up your blog or site to fight spam comments.

Dealing with Spam in Your Comments

Spam used to be limited to your emails, but anyone that has a website or blog where comments can be left are dealing with spam. Many of the spammer’s comments are not directed to drive traffic to their site or blog as many people would think. Unfortunately, they are using the spam to increase their search engine rankings. By leaving comments on your site the spammer is increasing their search engine rankings.

The spammers are attempting to get around spam blockers and target the security of individual websites or blogs. Many of the spammers that leave comments are doing the process manually. However, some the most common process is electronically or with the use of spam bots or scripts. Unfortunately, many site or blog owners don’t focus on their websites as their day job which can make dealing with these spam bots difficult. However, it certainly is not impossible.

When you discover your site or blog is the victim of spam comments don’t take it personally. In almost all cases, spammers are simply selecting a site and not targeting the webmaster or blog master. Take a deep breath and dive into the process of getting rid of the spam and keeping your site at the quality level it deserves.
·         Word or character verification for comments

Having a word or character verification for leaving comments is a great way to discourage spam. This will usually help with the electronic version of spamming comments. When verification must be done it must be human intervention that confirms the verification.

·         Moderate all comments
This can sometimes be a hassle, depending on how many comments you receive. Though, it is a great way to separate the spammers from legitimate commenters. Not only can you catch spammers, but it may also help you circumvent other comments that shouldn’t be left on your site such as inappropriate comments that shouldn’t be left on your site which may be vulgar or offensive to some members of your audience.
Review my post on moderating comments

·         Don’t allow users to use JavaScript or HTML
There is no legitimate use for either of these when leaving comments.
If you allow users to include links, there are a number of ways by which you can code to accommodate this functionality and not leave your site open to attack. The most common way is to inform the user that all URLs will be converted to links automatically, and then convert any content to a link if needed

Spam will continually be a problem for website and blog owners. However, a well-designed blog or site can monitor comments and make certain you are receiving comments instead of spam.

Commenting 101

There is a right way and a wrong way to leave a comment, believe it or not. Along with commenting etiquette there is comment production. Leaving a good comment requires a skill that can be learned. The format of a comment can mean the difference in the comment moderator accepting your comment for print or rejecting your comment.

These are a few words about how a comment should be left and the process to follow;

1.       Add your personal details that should include your name (or personal brand or pen name), website and email address. All of these things should only be given if you don’t mind them being displayed. Some website or blog owners will advise if your website is needed, but won’t be displayed with your comment information.

2.       Add your comment

Comments are usually added through some sort of WYSIWYG editor. Your comment should relay your thoughts or feelings for the content or information. Don’t leave drive by comments that say things like “great post”, “you got that right”. These types of comments don’t really say anything and will more than likely not be considered as a comment by the owner of the blog or site. Comments should provide thoughtful and insightful information. You should read the information you are leaving the comment for and actually respond with content related to the material.

If you are asking a question, do so professionally. If you are making an observation, do so professionally. If you don’t agree with the position, you can do so politely. Give examples to support your stance.
3.       Review your comment and make any necessary changes
Is your comment too lengthy and could be shorter? Make the changes and read through again. Remember, your comment is not only read by the site or blog owner, but also other readers or members of an audience

4.       Post your comment
Always stay professional and don’t say anything in a comment that you wouldn’t want on the web. Keep things professional and never say anything that could be offensive to anyone reading your comment or the site or blog owner.

One thing that I have seen in comments that are a real turn off for readers that enjoy a site or blog and the webmasters are comments that are a verbal argument or disagreement between two individuals. A lot of back and forth between two people arguing through comments is not the place or the time.

It makes anyone involved look petty and small. Even more than one individual “beating up” on someone for the comment they happen to make is not a good thing. This is a good way for your comment to be moderated as spam and not printed.

For those bloggers or site owners that do print these….shame on you.

Consider Using a Blog Commenting Service

Blog commenting services is a terrific way of building backlinks to your blog or website as everyone knows. It’s been identified as the core to internet marketing strategies. Google and other search engines utilize backlinks as a way to rank your site or blog.

Blog commenting services have been recognized on the web as a service that will create comments on your behalf, written by other bloggers with an opportunity to add a link back to your website or blog. The comments that are left are typically on higher ranked sites or blogs that have a do- follow link that allows traffic to flow from one website or blog back to your site or blog. Traffic is increased and so is your page rank.

Excellent blog commenting services can be offered by these affiliates providing commenting services. Comments left are insightful and relevant to the content that is being referenced. A group of highly qualified writers take the time to read articles and allow you to rest assured the comments and links are on sites and blogs related to your same niche. By leaving comments on related niches you know that the audience or readers are interested in the same type of format or information that your site or blog pertains to.

Consider using blog commenting services for blogs that you would like to jump start. If you have a blog that you simply cannot get enough of the write traffic or you have a high bounce rate, a blog commenting service may be for you.

This particular blog offers this service for a nominal fee and if you are interested, please leave your information in the comments section or contact me with my contact link displayed on this blog page.

Responsible Effective Blog Commenting

Placing comments on blogs can be effective in terms of directing folks to your own blog or website. As it is a privilege to be able to blog for business, it is prudent to be respectful and helpful to the blog and its readers. Also, it is important to find topics/posts where you really care about joining the conversation.

Here are a few guidelines to use when commenting on the blogs of others, especially those in your field:

a. If you are new to blog commenting (newbie), do not hold back from commenting, even if you think you do not know enough to comment intelligently. Go with your gut impressions or instincts if you think your spontaneous opinion is not an informed one.

b. Let the blog author know what you appreciated about their posting(s). Perhaps give reasons why you agree or disagree with something. You could let them know why you believe the topic is important in your blog comment.

c. If you are going to disagree, first check to see if someone else has already done so from your perspective. If you need to criticize, do so in a respectful manner. Do not comment in a caustic way or you will only invite a hostile retort on your own blog. You can disagree with an idea or opinion without attacking the person who holds it.

d. Let the blog owner know a topic for which you would like to see more posts.

e. Contribute something that would benefit readers. Perhaps you can help others benefit from your experiences. Perhaps you can inspire readers in some way. Do not be afraid to reveal something about yourself that lets readers know more about who you are. It is not just about blogging for business. Blogging is supposed to be like enjoyable conversation.

f. Create a profile on your own blog(s). When you set up a profile, you bring a human quality to your blog. When you post anonymously or without a name, you lose so much potential to have folks participate in your blog’s conversation.

Disaster Strikes When You Expect It!

Contribution by Odis Chan

I just spent three hours watching the movie "2012" and I think that it is my new favorite movie. I watch my new favorite movie on demand on satellite TV fromhttp://www.direct.tv/. The reason I love this movie so much is because I think that Danny Glover did a good job playing the role of Barack Obama. It was convincing to see a black president in a suit. Presidents like to wear suits and act like they are important. Danny Glover had a lot of self importance, the most I have seen since "Gone Fishin'" with Joe Pesci. It's too bad they couldn't include Joe Pesci in this movie. Joe is so funny. Especially in Lethal Weapons (which stars the anti Semitic Mel Gibson). I also liked 2012 because they included the Dalai Lama. Buddhism is such an important religion.

When the Dalai Lama rang the giant bell, I cried. He was so brave to stay behind and die in the tsunami waters. He really did something for his people there. The scene I didn't like was when John Cusack looks at a rotted, dead moose. I found this offensive because the movie makers obviously killed a moose and gutted it to be as realistic as possible. Speaking of super realistic, the special effects really helped the movie have a good storyline. Explosions equal movie making genius.

Finding Satisfaction in My Favorite Talk Show

Written by my friend Teodoro Martin

Every housewife needs to find respite from her day-to-day duties and I find mine in watching my favorite talk show. While many people may balk at the Maury Povich show, I take great delight in it. It is true that some of the stories he features are tragic in nature. However, I believe that he provides great entertainment for his audiences and also tries to teach his guests valuable life lessons.

My favorite topics on his show include the DNA testing to find a baby's father and mothers dealing with unruly daughters. Perhaps I favor these shows because I myself am a mother. I especially sympathize with the mothers of teenage daughters who want to run away with older men or who want to become pregnant before they are married. As the mother of a teenage girl myself, I admit I would not know how to approach this kind of disobedience. I also cannot imagine the kind of heartbreak parents face in not knowing who fathered their children. I personally believe that children are a gift and to see these children treated like commodities or afterthoughts on this show really strikes a nerve in me.

But once I get my dishes done and another load of laundry started, I turn on my satellite TV(direct.tv) and watch Maury Povich. He is a very entertaining talk show host and provides a nice, albeit brief, getaway from my daily chores.

My mini water park vacation

Guest post written by Olivia White

My work schedule is pretty demanding and my boyfriend always says that he thinks any houses won't get sold without my help. I know he's kidding and that I shouldn't devote so much of my time to work but I really love it and hate to be away. So I've found that taking small vacations, or daycations, works a whole lot better for me.

We actually went last weekend to a local water park and I had so much fun! I got the idea when I was looking for a new internet service and ended up signing up forwww.Clear-internet.com. I had to think really hard about the last time I had been to a water park, which let me know that it had been way too long!

So my boyfriend and I took a non-relaxing water park trip ! It was actually pretty exhausting and I got sunburned but it was all worth the fun that I had there! Swimming around in the wave pool and going down all kinds of daring slides sure does wear you out!

Identifying Spam Comments

Blog and website owners are responsible for moderating comments. The comments are left by attentive and interested readers and the content can be useful feedback for the content of any site. However, from time to time comments are from spam bots, instead of readers. Spam detection is useful information for each owner of the blog I moderate comments.

There may be times when spam is difficult to identify. This article describes several ways you can identify spam in your blog comments. Not all spam comments come with links. Some spam bots are designed to add comments to sites and blogs are just phishing.

Comment spam can be blocked for you with software you can easily find on the internet. However, spam can make it past software installed for blocking it. Spam comments can hurt the reading enjoyment for your audience and their involvement with you blog. Some comments that are spam can have language that is rude, offensive and inappropriate for your readers.

Identifying spam is easier than you think. There are some comments that appear to be formatted in another language that you cannot identify. If you see these types of comments they are more spam. Comments full of unrecognizable characters or jargon that don’t fit into recognizable sentences or their structure are spam. Nonsense or gibberish are others ways that spam find their way to your blog.

English language blogs have comment left in English. If you are writing a blog in Vietnamese, comments are left in Vietnamese. Therefore, if you think the comments are in a foreign language more than likely they are spam. Remove it immediately.

Comments filled with advertising information. For example, if you have advertising or links in a comment to things such as ProActiv or other affiliate marketing information remove these spam comments from your blog or website.
Other spam comes in the form of vague or information that is not relative to your blog or site content but filled with links are a different kind of spam. Delete this information and get it off of your site or blog. If you receive a comment and you cannot tell whether or not its spam, follow the link or URL provided in the body of information and define if it does or doesn’t add value for your readers. If it doesn’t, delete it as spam.
Every blogger or site owner loves to receive and read comments left by their audience related to quality content they have written. Commenting is a great resource for constructive feedback and can get a dialogue or conversation going with your readers. However, because of this spammers have taken the opportunity to abuse the privilege of commenting to pollute your blog or site.

Don’t allow your blog to have spam comments. Use your software and these tips to identify spam that gets past the spam blocking software and delete it as soon as possible.

Comments are Terrific for Writer’s Block

All writers get a case of writer’s block from time to time. This includes those writers that blog. When you need a little inspiration there are several places to find it right under your nose. One of those places to discover content is in your comments left by readers.

Imagine all of those wonderfully perceptive comments left about content that you have written chocked full of subject matter for you to blog about. Do you really pay close attention to the comments left on your blog? Listen to what your readers are saying and discover great substance for your blog. Capitalize on the wealth of inspiration left for you by your community.

There are several ways to absorb subject matter from your comments;

·         Take a portion of a reaction one of your readers had about a blog post left and expand upon it. Begin the post by including a reference to your original blog information. Include a hyperlink in case you have readers that want to read the original post. Include and highlight the readers comment information and complete the entire blog post by including your personal thoughts on the matter.

·         If you receive a comment from someone that is significant in your niche or industry, write an interview blog post. You can ask questions about their blog, your niche or industry or highlight their blog and content information in your post. You can add an extra post by requesting a guest blog from the commenter.

·         Sometimes there are ideas for blog post that can jump into your head from a great comment left by a member of your readership. Suddenly you can clearly see a thought forming into a post by something they have mentioned, seen, compared or simply stated from a different point of view. Take these and run with them.

These are a few simple ways that comments are a terrific resource for those times when writer’s block affects a blogger. Use those comments. These are thoughts and ideas that your readers are interested in more than you know.

Dealing with Spam Comments-WordPress Plugin Aksimet

Adding a comment section to your blog is great for getting more traffic to your blogging community. Allowing readers of your content to leave perceptive and discerning information through comments is one characteristic of a great blog owner. Blogging is about putting the information out there and getting a response or reaction from the community about your content.

There are many times that bloggers are bothered by the amount of spam received through their blogging comments. If you are working with WordPress for your blogging venture you can add a very helpful plugin called Askimet that will check your comments awaiting moderation for spamming.

The plugin works great for WordPress blogs by recording a comment status history allowing you to see with ease which comments were caught and/or cleared by Askimet for spam screening. Links are highlighted in the body of each comment that Aksimet flags as spam revealing any hidden or misleading links for easy identification.

A terrific feature of the Aksimet is if you have any interruption on the server you are using, the plugin catches the interruption of the web host service and will retry continually until the information is available for scanning.  Above all this blogging comment feature will help you become more productive as your blog community grows right along with the number of comments received.

The ability for a blog owner and their community to communicate through comments is important and vital to the workings of a blog. Having to spend valuable time moderating and deleting spam instead of working on content or replying to astute and interesting comments left by your audience is wonderful.

Spam comments are annoying to say the least and anything that helps you to blog better is always welcome. WordPress plugins developed like Aksimet are welcome and hopefully will continue to help you add value to your blogging efforts each day you pick up your computer to add more wonderful content for the world to comment about.

Leaving Great Blog or Article Comments

Leaving a great comment on a blog post doesn’t have to be a difficult task. There are some bloggers that even find this particular task trying. Leaving an insightful as well as thought out comment on a blog is easy to accomplish with a few short sentences. There are several steps to take as a commenter to leave good comments.

Many times by leaving comments on other blog posts or website content you can compel others to read your blog or direct new traffic your way. Above all you can increase your reputation as an insightful reader and respected member of a blogging community. The majority of comments can be left with links to content that you own or your blogs or website which can help traffic find the owner of this great comment.

Don’t leave “drive by” comments such as “great read”, “terrific article” or “ditto”. These are called drive by comments by the community because for many these are comments that are empty and can be left on any content because they don’t really convey any tangible information or feedback. Follow these steps to leave good comments.

Read the content that you are leaving comments for. Reading many posts only takes a few minutes and if you want to leave a comment the post or information must be worthwhile enough to read and comprehend the information at hand. In addition, if you are quoting information in your comment about the post or article make certain you get it right. Read the information and absorb what the writer is conveying.

Make your comment add something for the writer and other readers. Even if you are commenting on a post from someone who may be more intelligent than you are about the subject matter, you may have something to add from a different viewpoint or angle.

If you are leaving any factual information in your comments, check the facts and make certain you have it right. Believe it or not there may be another commenter that does check your facts and add a comment that makes you lose your credibility with the community. Opinions on a subject matter are important and having some factual information to support your viewpoint is wonderful to add in your comments if possible.

If you are making a point and can include an example, these are wonderful. Many comments are left with a certain train of thought in the mind of the comment writer and looking back on a comment several months or even days later you think that an example would have worked better to get your point across because of the short amount of space available. Add examples if you have them.

Comments should be made without anger. If you comment on subject matter that has upset you, step away from the post for a moment before commenting. You want to get your outlook out there, but you want it to be done with etiquette and poise and in anger we sometimes lose that.

A great comment doesn’t have to be a paragraph long and should be something that you are proud of leaving and tying your name to. Keep in mind when you leave a comment if this is something that you wouldn’t mind seeing on your own blog or content. If it isn’t, don’t leave the comment. There are lots of ways to say the same thing and if you don’t have something nice to say about a subject, don’t say anything at all.

Get More Traffic From Bloggers And Better Search Engine Traffic - Be Followed

Here’s a very simple traffic method for anyone who has their own web site, not just a person who has a blog.

1. Find the DoFollow Bloggers.

2. Participate in their communities. But alas, Simple is not the same thing as Easy. We shall come back to that point momentarily.

First, let’s talk about why you should support DoFollow communties. DoFollow blogs manually remove the Nofollow attribute that prevents your site from getting full link benefits from the search engines. So when you comment at a DoFollow site and leave your link, you could get a link back that not only sends traffic, but increases your number of external backlinks, which can help increase your search engine ranking, as well as your relevance on sites like Technorati.

Now, here we are, back at the simple is not easy thing. Look at number two again. Note how it doesn’t say leave a drive-by comment whose only purpose is to have a link back to you that contains your keyword. :) It says Participate in their communities. Why the distinction?

I'm a DoFollow blogger, so I can tell you. DoFollow bloggers aren’t looking for comments on the cheap. Do we want more comments? Sure. But if that’s all we wanted, we’d let the borderline spam flow. We’d then look like we were a popular blog without actually being one, which, let’s face it, could give us the bump we’d need to make the site popular. Not to mention that it’s a lot less work.

So why don't we do this? Because some of us changed our blogs back to DoFollow to make a point about how "Nofollow" doesn't prevent spam, and hurts our fellow bloggers. The commenting system is a reciprocal relationship in our eyes and many of us believe that fellow bloggers and webmasters especially should get something in return for taking the time to comment. And yet, spam posters try to make it look like they’re doing us some kind of favor by leaving their junk on our sites and cluttering up our experience for the rest of our community.

I know, it’s tempting to leave a generic comment to get more links, and it works on a minority of bloggers. To avoid having yourself lumped in with those people, really think about a brief comment, make it relevant to the discussion and see if you can’t form a relationship with that blogger. Because it’s not actually the comment that is really the traffic jackpot. You may end up forming an alliance with a blogger whose blog you comment on frequently. That may mean that they feature you in a blog post, or that you have a future partnership that leads to an increase in revenue to your company. Either way the benefits will always be greater if you respect the etiquette of the blogosphere.

So don’t make this classic newbie mistake - realize that not only are the bloggers real people, so are the members of their community. Be one of the good guys and prepare to reap the rewards of it.

How To Get Your Website Visitors To Willing Supply You With Plenty Of Fresh Content

If you are like most people, you probably have more commitments than time. You make cuts to help compensate, typically setting aside the more time consuming tasks like writing fresh content for your business. Some people find it easier to hire a writer than try to schedule time to write but what if we told you, you could also get content for free?

Here are two easy ways to get your visitors to willing give you content at no cost.

1) Encourage Commenting on Your Blog

The first thing you need to realize is that it takes time so if you don't have tons of comments right off the bat, don't be discouraged...just keep at it. A blog that is up-to-date with fresh content will encourage more and more commenting.

Just like with any other marketing you do for your business, you need to first build a relationship with your blog readers. Blog readers need to feel like they know" you and the more you post and the more real you come across to your readers the easier it will be for them to approach you and build that relationship.

Make your blog convenient for your readers by setting up an RSS feed and email notifications of new posts. You're busy and so are your readers, so don't waste their time by making them check everyday to see if you've posted something new.

Give your readers something to talk about and respond to by asking questions and voicing your opinions on hot topics. When given the invitation to communicate with you more will do so.

2) Encourage People to Post Product Reviews

One of the reasons Amazon.com does so well is because it allows its visitor to contribute their own opinions. People love to give their opinions and people also love to hear other people's opinions about products.

You can do the same thing. Post simple product reviews for products that your target market is interested in and allow your visitors to add their own comments, full reviews and ratings. As more people leave reviews, the more likely your site will be the go-to place for product reviews in your particular subject area.

Tell your blog visitors, subscribers and visitors about the product review system. You can even offer a points and ratings system where reviews can earn rewards for the quality and frequency of their reviews.

Getting your visitors to willing give you content won't just happen over night, you still have to work with and supply some initial content and points of discussion, but once it gets going participation starts to multiply.

Google's Pr 0 And Link Exchange Difficulties

With your brand new, professional looking website up and ready for the masses, using link exchanges can be a powerful way to drive high quality traffic to your website and provide useful content for your readers. Unfortunately, having a newly built website creates a number of hurdles you must cross before reciprocal linking becomes an easier process. Learn to spot these roadblocks up front and you will break through the PR 0 barriers.

Why do I have a PR of 0?

Google Page Rank (PR) is given to websites approximately once every quarter to determine their level of importance on a scale of 1-10. Many factors determine PR, most of which Google keeps very secret. It is during this time when Google has yet to rank your website that you will show a PR of 0 in the Foxfire Google toolbar.

Why Does a PR of 0 Matter?

One aspect of backlinking to websites that greatly affects your PR is the quality of the pages you are linked to. For instance: linking your car parts website to ten dog grooming websites will not give your PR much of a boost due to lack of relevance, but if you link to several websites that are also automobile related, it will send your PR in the right direction.

Many webmasters look at the requesting website's PR before they will complete a link exchange fearing that a low PR will bring their website page rank down. Though this is not really the case, it is a hurdle you must cross.

What to do about it?

Unfortunately, the PR of 0 will not change until Google updates their page ranks, but you can push through the next few months by doing the following:

1. Run the numbers. There are several tools available to help lessen the burden of manually searching for link partners. I suggest using one of these to help find a large pool to start from. Set a goal to send a determined number of link requests each day. I generally look for 50 matches, sort quickly by web title for relevance and apply to the link exchange forms that match my content. Even if you only get one response a day, you are still building quality reciprocal links.

Note: If you see they have a PR restriction, honor it and put them in a category for the future.

2. Build relationships. If you know a Webmaster with a site relevant to yours, send a personal note requesting a link exchange. Many website owners are willing to help out if they know the quality of the site.

3. Build one-way links by sending out articles, posting in newsgroups or by building a profile on high traffic sites such as MySpace. Commenting in newsgroups or on high traffic sites and adding a comment about your website in your signature file (making sure the link is active) gives you backlinks to your website from those pages.

Having an initial PR of 0 is a reality all new webmasters must face, but if you forge ahead, building a high quality link exchange network, you will be pleasantly surprised when Google makes it's page rank updates. Don't be discouraged and don't give up. Soon you will be in a position to easily gain reciprocal links to other websites with content your readers will value. This will give you both a steady stream of targeted traffic from your partner sites, and a high quality, content rich website as well.

How You Can Get As Much As Possible From Your Dofollow Blog Commenting

If you want your keywords to rank as highly as possible, you have to learn how to effectively play the search engine optimization game. This is especially hard if you don't know where to get quality backlinks that will help your site rank. When you consider how many blogs are out there, many of them in your targeted niche, you can see why blog commenting can be an effective way to get backlinks to your website or blog. What you really want to find, however, are do-follow blogs, so that the search engines will take note of your links. When you find a suitable blog, you then have to get your comment approved, or it won't be published.

Seek Blogs With Wordpress Plugins that are Comment Friendly: As you search blogs in your niche, you're looking for the most useful ones you can find. As you browse through the various blogs, you need a way to decide which ones you should leave comments on.

One way to find good blogs is by looking for those that use comment centric WP plugins, which have names like "top commenters," "keyword luv" and "comment luv." These plugins mean that the blog is encouraging comments, so it's likely that any comment you leave will be approved.

Use Courtesy to Your Own Advantage: Before you leave a comment on a blog, be sure that you compliment the blogger on the post that they have created. You'd be amazed by how much a few courteous words can help you. As soon as the owner of the blog reads your comment, they'll feel good about you before they read everything. This helps create a positive energy and helps you get your comments approved. Keep your compliments genuine but real; being too complimentary and gushing aren't going to help you. It is also important that you don't just leave the compliment; go beyond and talk about the post itself and make sure to give a real opinion because you don't want your comment to be mistaken for spam; try to strike a balance and you should be okay.

The Blog Needs a Nice History - There are some blogs out there that won't approve comments until and unless they know the commenter in some way - you need to stay away from such blogs. Search out the blogs that have a good history of approving comments that have been well written. This will help you focus on the blogs that will accept you instead of ignoring you. Your blog commenting efforts need to be stoic; don't let your emotions rule the day. You have to practice practicality here. In summary, from the above article it becomes clear that in order to make the most out of do-follow blogs, you not only need to comment on them right way but put in all your effort to have your comments approved. You can build hundreds of backlinks over time just by making sure that your comments get approved. Don't underestimate the power of blog commenting, it can take you places if you work on it effectively and follow what we've discussed here.

Natural Link Building With Blog Commenting

Do you know that you can achieve higher search rankings with blog commenting? Blog comments can be an effective link building method if you do it right.

Among all the link building methods, blog commenting is perhaps the most frowned upon. That is because this method has been blatantly abused by many so-called SEO experts. They use automated software to spam nonsensical comments on blogs.

Now the reason why blogs allow comments is to encourage healthy discussions. So comments should be intelligent and relevant to the blog post. Otherwise, it's considered spam. Using software to post to one thousand innocent blogs with the comments "nice post" is definitely not an acceptable practice. So what then, is an acceptable practice?

Blog commenting is acceptable when the comments are posted by human beings. If you are interested in the post, and genuinely have something to share, then it's okay to post some comments on the blog. In other words, you are indirectly adding value to the websites with your comments. That is acceptable practice. Once your comments are approved, your links will appear on the blog posts.

Many webmasters are insistent that the links have the "NoFollow" attribute assigned to them, so they are useless for SEO. Bear in mind that comments are not meant for SEO, advertising, and link building. They are meant for discussions. Due to the amount of spam on these blogs, search engines have no choice but to put in some kind of algorithm to help detect spammy links. But if you are commenting as a human writer, you have nothing to worry about. The search engines always reward content that are written by humans for other human readers. Here are 3 simple steps to get higher approval rates for your blog comments.

Step 1: Select only relevant blogs.
Step 2: Post intelligent comments.
Step 3: Write in a personal style.

Step 1: Select only relevant blogs.

Don't post to hundreds of blogs that are irrelevant to your own website. Select only relevant blogs. You can easily get a list of blog URLs from the search engines.

Step 2: Post intelligent comments.

Please do read the post content before writing any comments. Also, spend some time to see what others have written on the blog post. Whenever possible, try to join in the discussion. Don't post some kind of off-topic comment. That will just tick people off.

Step 3: Write in a personal style.

Many blogs are personal websites. So writing in a personal style would be ideal. Your goal here is to make new friends and if possible, build a relationship with the bloggers. On the Internet, you need partners to be successful. So write with the intention of building and growing relationships. You wouldn't spam a friend's blog would you?

When you follow the tips above, your links will grow naturally in the blogosphere. You will notice your rankings improving gradually in the search engines.

Benefits Of Dofollow Blog Commenting Services

Having great content is just not enough to make a website show up in the search engines. While promoting a web site, backlinks (the links from other sites leading to your site) are very crucial. One of the ways to get backlinks is commenting on blogs having similar content or subject as your own website.

In a blog, every comment typically carries the link to your website which doesn't even require you to log in and leave a comment which makes this whole blogging process a great experience.
One of the negative aspects associated with blog commenting is the fact that most of the blog software tag the comment link as "nofollow". The "nofollow" command literally means don't follow as it tells the search engines no to follow those comment links. The nofollow command is an attempt to reduce the blog comment spam which the blogs have been receiving in abundance lately. The nofollow command prevents the spammers from earning PageRank points which they earn easily by flooding the blogs with comments.

Although, it helps prevention from spammers but it also leads to penalization of the honest commenter who has no intensions of spamming. To oppose this rise of the nofollow tag, the "dofollow movement" came into existence. The dofollow tag enables the bloggers to manually manage their blog comments where they can easily remove the nofollow tag. It is quite a difficult job to find the dofollow blogs as they are very rare because most of the blogs are nofollow. But once you find out a dofollow blog, you need to spend a lot of time in commenting on the dofollow blogs to promote your website.

To solve the problem of finding the dofollow blogs, a lot of dofollow search engines have been established. If you find a good post, you must leave a thought provoking comment so that you can get an approval to earn a dofollow link. One of the major benefits if dofollow blog commenting services is that it gives an opportunity for building links, as it a cost effective and a very easy method.

Dofollow blog commenting services provide SEO benefits. Along with providing immediate search engine ranking benefits like dropping comments on the dofollow blog, it also provides a lot of long term benefits wherein it enables you to leave thought provoking comments and help you connect with the millions of bloggers and enable to build your links directly. Indeed it is a great link building strategy.

As a blogger's time is equivalent to his money, make sure that you invest your time wisely in commenting on a dofollow blog. In fact, don't just comment on a dofollow blog, comment both on the dofollow as the nofollow blog as it is more important to comment on the blogs that are similar in content to your website rather than thinking about which one is a dofollow or a nofollow. Commenting on a dofollow blog offers a lot of SEO benefits but it is quite time consuming. So leave your comments according to the needs of your website.

Manual Blog Commenting Can Help Generate More Buzz

Are you hoping to generate more buzz for your website? You can get a lot of attention just by leaving blog comments on other people's blogs. But there is a right way to do this. If done improperly, your comments will be considered as spam and deleted accordingly. So how can you make sure that you succeed at generating buzz? Here is a step by step guide.

Step 1: Only use manual commenting.
Step 2: Read the blog post and current discussion.
Step 3: Leave your comments.
Step 4: Bookmark or subscribe to the blog.

Step 1: Only use manual commenting.

Before you even start, don't even consider automated blog commenting. Yes, you can automate the process with special software. But the problem with such software is that the comments are often irrelevant to the blog post. And since the same comments are posted on hundreds of blogs, this is considered spamming. If you want your website to remain in good status, do not resort to spamming. Otherwise, you may invoke some kind of penalty from the search engines.

Step 2: Read the blog post and current discussion.

Blog commenting can be fun. So enjoy the process. Pick blogs that offer high quality content, and spend time on the blogs. The most important thing is to read the blog entries. Also, pay attention to what others are saying on the blog post. You should do that because you want your comments to be relevant, which brings us to the next step.

Step 3: Leave your comments.

With an understanding of what the blog entry is about, leave your comments. Make sure that you say something about the content, or you join in the current discussion. The worse kind of comment you can give is "good post" and nothing else. If possible, offer some tips or insights. That way, you are adding value to the blog.

When leaving comments, adopt an informal and personal style. Most blogs are owned by individuals. So being casual is totally acceptable. You are there to make friends. For instance, you can start your comment by addressing the blogger by name.

Step 4: Bookmark or subscribe to the blogs.

After leaving your comments, make sure that you bookmark or subscribe to the blogs. There are a few reasons why you should do this. Firstly, you want to be able to check if your links have been approved. Secondly, you may wish to continue growing the relationship with the bloggers. On the Internet, relationship is everything. So don't let your efforts go to waste.

If you like, you can download an RSS reader and subscribe to the RSS feed of the blog. Whenever the blogger post a new entry, you will be one of the first to know about it. You may then revisit the blog, read the content, and if you feel like it, post more comments. After you do this a few times, the bloggers will start to know you better and your comments tend to get a higher rate of approval.

Remember, blog commenting is NOT about spamming. People spam blogs purely for SEO reasons. Sure, this method works for SEO. But SEO should be seen as the side benefit. The primary goal is to network with the bloggers. In time to come, the blogosphere will get to know you better.
